The phased array technique makes it possible to electronically control the acoustic properties of the sound field. Changes in the sound field are triggered through time-staggered activation of the individual elements of the phased array sensor that occurs when they are sent and received.
The assessment of the ultrasound results takes place according to well-known methods. It facilitates fast, electronic scanning, improved test sensitivity through sound field control, as well as testing at different angles by means of electronic control. Through optimized focusing and beam angles, it allows for more flexibility when testing complex geometries.
Weld seam inspection is more precise and can be done faster than with conventional ultrasound devices.
